About Me
I'm a project and operations professional based in rural Manitoba. My career has taken a few different turns, but there's a pretty consistent thread through all of it: I like figuring out how things work, finding what's not working, and making things easier to manage.
I've worked in government, small business, community organizations, and operations. I've managed a post office, coordinated government projects, built websites, organized community events, worked with volunteers, developed communications projects, and spent a frankly unreasonable amount of time making spreadsheets do things I don't care to do more than once.
A lot of my experience has come through community work. I spent several years helping lead Pembina Valley Pride, where I went from helping organize a small Pride march to coordinating an annual festival with thousands of attendees, dozens of volunteers, and a growing network of sponsors and community partners. I've also spent years working with youth programs through Girl Guides and Rock Lake United Church Camp.
A lot of my work sits somewhere between projects, people, and systems. I like taking something that feels a little messy, figuring out what actually needs to happen, and then making a plan that people can realistically follow. Sometimes that means coordinating a big project with a hundred moving pieces. Sometimes it's rebuilding a process that makes absolutely no sense. Sometimes it's just making sure everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing, the spreadsheet is actually up to date, and nothing quietly falls through the cracks.
I also like the parts of a project that don't always fit neatly into one job description. I enjoy writing and communications, building websites, figuring out digital systems, solving problems when something doesn't work, and learning enough about a new tool or process to get the job done properly. I'm generally happiest when I can move between the big picture and the details without having to choose one or the other.
Outside of work, I'm usually volunteering for something, working on a project, reading romance novels, or spending time with my family. I read a lot, I build websites for fun (which probably says something about me), and I have a tendency to turn "I wonder if we could..." into an actual project.
I'm currently completing a Diploma in Human Resource Management and a Project Management Certificate through the University of Winnipeg, building on my BA in Psychology with a focus on Child and Adolescent Development.
